Artist Statement

Skin embraces the melancholic beauty in nature’s inevitable life cycle. In this age of cyber media, where the majority of information is gathered through interaction with technology, not absorbed by touch, there is a need to establish a better appreciation of the body as a way of creating deep and resonating connections. The pervasive impact of technology has encouraged me to embrace haptic creativity focussed on hand making that creates a sensory dialogue between the mind and material. In Touch presents surfaces and forms that resemble skin and internal sites of the body as a way to encourage sensory interactions.
