Artist Statement

Unfolding women’s stories told and untold from my antecedent generations, I visualize and interpret the emotions and longings of the postwar Korean womanhood into visual medium with honor and respect. Understanding the ties of lives that are felt heart to heart, with hope and vision, I celebrate the long-established hallmarks of femininity such as childbirth and customary domestic work while acknowledging suffering, sadness and sacrifices my predecessors contributed.
