Artist Statement

Improvisational Abstraction:
To improvise is to compose without preparation.  In my creative practice I am concerned with improvisation as a route to creating abstract drawings and paintings. There are many other routes to creating abstract works of art.
Creating abstract works based on improvisation can be achieved, for the most part, by forcing oneself to compose drawings onto a flat surface and without referencing what one sees.

A new individual language comprising of shapes and forms or combinations thereof comes to fruition. By adopting this methodology I hope to add the genre of abstraction.
 

Qualifications

• 2008 - 2011 : COFA, BFA
• 1993 : National Art School, East Sydney Technical College, Diploma of Fine Arts (first year)
