Artist Statement

Anitta’s practice involves the construction of meaning through the reinterpretation of multiple reference points, exploring constructed perceptions, altered perspective and the affect of context (or the lack thereof) on the reading of images. She creates works based around reinterpreted images and memories by collecting vast quantities of reference material (from show chicken breed standards to found images of trauma victims) which she then disassembles and ‘reconstructs’ to create new interpretations of form and space.
