Artist Statement

Predominantly using performance, video/installation and photomedia, I engage in a feminist performative exploration of theories of the gaze, surveillance culture and social networking. Heavily influenced by Denis Beaubois and subsequently the Surveillance Camera Players projection of panopticon, the Viennese Actionists and Marina Abramavic’s approach to performance art, I place myself in my work as the performer.

Will we go so far in our quest to gaze for a brief and meaningless moment at a barely knowable and visible ‘other’ that we are unaware of the ever conscious mechanical eye that never forgets us?
