Artist Statement

‘Serialworks’: Kudos Gallery, June-July 2011

My MFA research topic was: LANGUAGE | MATERIAL | MIMESIS. A fascination with ‘metaphysical’ transformation is at the heart of my personal creative practice. Liminality thrives in the slippage-space, and mysterious forces are at play. The work encompasses printmaking, painting, drawing, stencilling, installation, found objects, chemical substances, video and audio, and language systems include atomic mass, alchemy, hobo signs, language notation, algebra, concrete poetry, Mexican Lotería, Yijing, medieval bestiaries, hairstyles, religious symbols, numerology, music notation, colour… to name just a few. Consider this exhibition a distillation, a series of series of series, each conversing with the other.
