Artist Statement

My artistic practice usually resides in the mediums of acrylics and watercolours but over the past year I have delved into some experimentation involving unconventional painting pigments such as spices. Inspired by Hossein Valamanesh’s ‘Middle Path’ (2008) I have developed techniques of mixing and applying spice paints in my art. The content of my works lie in the fields of still life as well as subjects personal to me, such as the figures of my grandfather and my mother. My strengths lie in the area of realism, tonality playing a large role in my stylistic approach to painting.
