Artist Statement

Unfold is a collective clothing range and graphics campaign designed to recount the present and past narrative associated with the practice of veiling, whilst promoting a social and cultural change.

Inspired by the concept “stories possess greater value over time”, the meticulously thought-out apparel reveals the veil as a symbolic tool of modesty, femininity, beauty and a practice substantiated on self-expression and identity.

The unfold collection is designed to imitate the function of veils, whilst laser cutting has been utilised as a confrontational technique to illustrate the contemporary misconceptions and loss of identity.
