Artist Statement

I primarily work with gunpowder. I enjoy the violence and spontaneity of the medium. The finished works on paper are ghostly, compelling tributes to the elemental transformation, both destructive and creative. The delicacy of the gunpowder residue is juxtaposed against the confrontational process of the work.

Thematically I have been exploring the psycho history of mankind,in particular, our catastrophic human impulses and our struggles with power and greed.

I intend my works to be visually and thematically powerful. Their relevance in today’s perilous world is confronting and necessary.
