Artist Statement

In my paintings I re-design the figures from my life drawing class, with the intention to create a symbolic form, which could say something about the state of our Self in regard to our environment. I try to locate the figures in an atmospheric space, representing the beauty and harmony of nature. In contrast to that, to show our disconnection from nature, I use triangular shapes to distort the human form. The triangle, as a symbol, has been referred to as – heaven, earth, man and body and soul – allegories for nature, thus emphasizing our belonging to it.
