Artist Statement

* (2011) Jessica Jukic draws a great deal of inspiration from nature, her primary focus being trees. From this, she created a series of ink paintings incorporating graphite drawings of tree branches and various other flora. Her work relates to the existence of nature within the world and also comments on the delicate beauty of plant life. Her process within the area of drawing and painting involves expressionistic mark making partnered with refined detail. Quite often, she avoids making her subjects entirely clear, due to having a preference for making work that is ambiguous and maintaining a sense of mystery.
