Artist Statement

‘Dispel + Re-Evaluate’ explores our current social climate perception and views of jewellery. The project tackles the issue of the perception whereby the commodity value of jewellery is weighed or estimated based upon the materials comprised in the jewellery pieces e.g. Gold, Silver, Precious and Semi-Precious stones, the notion is also enforced by the current social trends and/or media influences that perpetuates these notions. The design is an attempt to ‘restructure’ the valuing system of jewellery and promote the valuing more upon the design and the connection between the wearer and the object itself.
