Artist Statement

I’m compelled to question why we do what we do in the way we do it. Our ideologies inform our moral codes, laws and what we believe to be the Truth. But we need to remember ideologies are culturally specific and ever evolving. I believe our ideologies need to be examined if they are to be our frame of reference on the world.

“Mother: The Idealized Matter” reflects on the status, roles and responsibilities society assigns to mothers and aims to initiate an open and frank conversation about what it means for women to take on the role of motherhood.
