Artist Statement

This body of work explores a sense of place, belonging and loss. Images of urban decaying spaces are displayed with a video of an old man’s experiences when he was young. Frank’s story is a conduit for the urban derelict landscape. He illustrates the urban loss of identity as time and progress pushes aside what is familiar and comfortable. Society has abandoned these spaces; they have no purpose and command no attention. What is left behind is dismissed; it becomes obsolete, as all its value has drained away. His story breathes life and beauty into the mundane and banal photographs.
