Artist Statement

Through the investigation of the human figure I have become enthralled by the multitudes of symbolic representation which can be derived from ‘the body’. Through the production of works that encompass the figure, I have come to realise not only its aesthetic beauty but also its ability to denote a diverse plateau of meaning.

This preoccupation with figurative art has led to the depiction and merging of the body within elements of a surreal landscape. Embraced by a hint of romanticism, the works connect the dislocation and eeriness of human relationships with that of nature – the uncontrolled and unknown.
