Artist Statement

* (2011)
Architect Glen Murcutt’s design ethos is inspired by the ancient aboriginal proverb “touch the earth lightly”, and I hope to allign myself with this philosophy. It is imperative to be conscious of the earth and the way we obtain and utilise resources. The materials I choose to work with, predominantly wool, silk, vegetables, clay and timber, are those that are able to be reused, recycled or returned to the earth to biodegrade. I am interested in craft and the traditions of the handmade. I aim to establish personal connections and help people appreciate the beauty in handmade things.
