Artist Statement

I have been studying Art at COFA in order to obtain my Bachelor of Fine Arts. Prior to studying at COFA I achieved a Diploma of Fine Arts at Hornsby TAFE.

My concept gained inspiration from a trip to the Melbourne Museum where I stumbled upon a complete skeleton of a blue whale. Initially what drew me to the skeleton was the abstract qualities when the bones were closely photographed.

The scale of the enormous skeleton made me think about the profound impact humanity has on whales. The format is symbolic of the ever-changing seascape with endless possibilities of change.
