Artist Statement

During my Degree my practice has continuously investigated various visual ways to represent my deep anxieties growing up with a mother bound by a physical degenerative disease. I use allegory and indexical trace often worked into confronting compositions to illustrate a sense of tension, dislocation and isolation that can exist between self, and Body with the surrounding environment. Through performance, painting and mixed media my works investigate materiality, in evocative ways that highlight both the physical and emotional frailties of life and more importantly the relationship and dialogue between body and self and the connection and disconnection between the two.
