Artist Statement
I do paintings that portray and reflect on the main issues of my home country, the Philippines. I mostly paint on big canvasses and panels in order to fit the subjects that I want to paint. The subjects are comparisons of what the present is and what the past was. Metaphors, symbols, and words are the key elements to my paintings in order to give an indication of what I am trying to reflect. I am referencing on artists such as Jean-Michel Basquiat, David Griggs, Manuel Ocampo, and Ian Quirante whose works are about political, religious, cultural, and social issues.
