Artist Statement
My artwork takes a critical view of social, political and cultural issues. I deconstruct the Arab American identity in the aftermath of 9/11. The struggle to reconcile the culture one lives in with the culture one comes from is a key theme in my works. My choice of the subject comes from a place of intuition and is fueled by an impetuous desire to partake in the events that unfold around me. I’m very interested in the dialogue that my work creates on a cultural specification as well as political and social discussions it may address.
