Keep on the Grass
While doing a porosity studio in Beijing, China with a number of University of New South Wales students and interior architects from Tsinghua University, Beijing we created two large scale sculptures. This work is our ironic response to the site we were allocated to install our sculpture at the art zone in Beijing, ‘751’. The site was a well maintained grass patch that stipulated ‘Keep off the Grass’. This became very difficult in the installation and building process and therefore we created a sculpture that nurtured, protected and watered the grass. The sculptures, made from bamboo, represent the fluidity and motion of water as they spray the grass in a aesthetic fashion.
