Resume

Signs of Wear draws a conceptual and visual framework from the unique sandstone formations and erosive processes of Coyote Buttes (North Central Arizona).

As the user rocks on the stool, layers of sand will be removed by abrasion and act as a semi-permanent record of the relationship which has formed between the user, the object and its environment. By generating a rocking action which causes signs of wear, the objective to create a design which encourages the formation of a user- object relationship by rewarding committed use is established, and in turn is sustained for decades to come.
