A&D ANNUAL 2021
Ke Qin
Ke Qin's project responds to the United Nation's Sustainable Development Goal 11, by delivering an interactive intelligent bus stop, combining the use of public transport systems with the future of urban reforestation. The main goal of the project is to use 'ecological citizenship’ as the framework. Ecological citizenship is considered to be those people who claim to be very willing to make sacrifices for the environment and poverty reduction. The project aims to increase the support of vegetation in Sydney's ecosystem, increase the frequency of public transport use by city residents, and make residents more environmentally and ecologically conscious. The design idea is to provide a viable solution for bus stops in Sydney, with the endpoint placed on promoting action on the concept of 'ecological citizenship' by the citizens of Sydney. Methodological guidance is used to increase the willingness of people to take action and pay for 'ecological citizenship’ while reducing the loss of vegetation from urban development. Public transport mileage and usage are calculated on the app system, and the results are linked to the carbon footprint. That information is then given to passengers on the app to help them know the sustainable results of taking public transportation. By calculating how much CO2 emissions the public saves by taking public transportation, users are then rewarded by growing seeding plants. After these plants grow up, the public can choose to plant them in their yards or recycle them to promote the reforestation of urban areas.
