Advocating for equality of education for ethnic minorities, vietEd by LEA confronts misguided societal perspectives on ethnic minorities and intolerant education curriculums.
It provides a stimulating and flexible means of learning through a mobile platform that offers tailored support, ethnic diversity education and multilingual services in a highly engaging environment. This mobile education application aims to increase student engagement, school enrolment and attendance, improve academic competencies and raise more awareness on ethnic
minorities’ abilities.
The app adopts two key features; a digital library and a game centre. These features will improve recognition and retention of vocabulary, as well as listening and speaking skills. Emphasis on
the promotion of ethnic diversity education and awareness will not only embolden ethnic minorities, but it will also foster inter-ethnic appreciation and respect for each other’s cultures. And finally, this
app encourages self-motivation; as competencies develop, the desire to learn should also grow.
Emilie Gautheron is a Sydney-based designer who specialises in graphics and interaction design. She has recently graduated from a Bachelor of Design, where she developed her skills in UX/UI design and social innovation. Her passions for these two disciplines led her to create projects that address various global challenges, such as education inequality and unemployment. One of her notable works is a mobile education app that addresses the lack of accessibility to quality education for ethnic minorities in developing countries, such as Vietnam. Emilie is also interested in exploring new design frameworks, such as Transition Design, which proposes design-led societal transitions towards more sustainable futures. Emilie hopes to inspire other emerging designers to pursue their passions beyond just design and engage in the intersections between design and other disciplines.
