‘Mending Ties’, explores the process of learning cultural practices and the journey of forming connections with cultural identity through the matriarchal figures in her family. Silwanis also seeks to open a conversation on the non-linear structures of these learnings and the complexities when forming respective connections.

Emma Silwanis is a Chinese Egyptian artist based on unceded Wangal and Gadigal land. Working with digital media and installation, she explores her experiences with cultural rituals, traditions and practices.
