Gosha Heldtz is a young Gamilaroi artist and third-year student at UNSW (2023), pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a focus on painting and printmaking. Originally from a small town in the northwest of NSW (Tingha), Gosha moved to Sydney to pursue her artistic aspirations and has since been involved in a number of exhibitions across the city. Her work explores themes of place and identity, specifically how she navigates contemporary ‘Australian’ spaces as a young indigenous woman from a rural background. Visually Gosha works on a large scale, using vivid colours and bold representations of herself. She is passionate about using her art to connect with others and to promote cultural awareness and understanding of a somewhat niche perspective.
