Community Rhizome, 2023

'Community Rhizome' is a sustainable urban and community transformation project using a unique combination of vertical farming and sustainable traditional craftsmanship. This project improves the environment of Gaojiabang (Shanghai) community and builds its economy. The project attracts community residents to participate in the project by providing them with new farming areas, green spaces and income channels. The project subscribes to UN SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities.

Han is an environmental designer currently studying for a Master's degree in Design. Their main research directions are the sustainable development of community environments and the sustainable design of community facilities & buildings. They are passionate about exploring the sustainable development direction of urban facilities in terms of materials and functions, so as to improve the sustainability of the city and the happiness index of residents.
