Comic Packaging: Reducing Marine Garbage Pollution, 2023

'Comic Packaging' raises awareness of sustainability and marine garbage pollution in children and adult inhabitants of, and visitors to, Qinhuangdao, China. Using comics to produce attractive and collectible packaging and websites and stories with comic strip heroes, the project aims to raise awareness of plastic waste and microplastic contamination of oceans. The project subscribes to UN SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, and UN SDG 14: Improving Life Below Water.

Howard is a Master of Design student at UNSW Art & Design, having previously completed a Bachelor of Animation. His design practice includes communication design, graphic design and jewelry design. He enjoys exploring the reflective design possibilities of novelty, conveying the designer's attitude to the world, to ideas and to optimistic solutions.
