Hwei Jin Ho is a graphic designer with a background in animation. Her practice seeks to address social issues, particularly from the perspective of her own intersectionality. Hwei’s major work is an information campaign that calls attention to the simultaneously systemic and interpersonal problem of name discrimination in workplace hiring practices. Situated in the CBD, ‘Job Race’ brings the confronting data to the employers’ doorsteps in the form of animated Augmented Reality posters. It is Hwei’s hope that as employers interact with these posters coming to life, they will confront their personal biases and be compelled to make more equitable hiring decisions.
