At the centre of Liam McCombie's art practice is an obsession with process. He is acutely interested in the systems and decisions that inform creativity, and considers his art a by-product, or souvenir of processes of play and experimentation. The idea of a ‘final product’ is secondary, with the experience of creativity being the primary intrigue. McCombie’s process guides material to become art, which itself becomes new material through a perpetual process of interrogation, documentation and re-presentation of practice.
