Eucalypt Canopy is a series of park shelters, benches and tables in the Blue Mountains that celebrate the iconic Eucalyptus trees, deeply present in the region. These structures provide comfort for locals and visitors seeking to be immersed in nature, encouraging outdoor leisure while honouring the Australian bush. Inspired by fallen Eucalyptus bark, the design’s organic curves and wooden beams harmonize form and function.
Positioned at Wentworth Falls Lake, the project responds to the need for shade and connectivity to the environment. The integrated website, activated through QR codes found across the park, deepen engagement by offering interesting facts, details on the design, and ambient nature sounds. Steam-bent timber is used to ensure an effective UV blockage and captures bark’s essence, providing durability and visual interest across the structures.
Eucalypt Canopy enriches the outdoor experience with the immersive online website, whilst promoting well-being and exercise. The designs seamlessly merge with the landscape, inviting exploration and interaction.
