Letters to the Floods, 2022
Recycled, seeded paper treated with watercolour and water-based ink, recycled glass bottles, cotton rope.
'Letters to the Floods' was a project created in response to the NSW and QLD floods that took place in March 2022. With the disaster being the worst floods Australia had seen in 100 years, many victims expressed that they felt overlooked throughout the crisis, with Governments receiving criticism regarding their slow and inadequate response to those in need. The campaign primarily aims to shed a light on flood victims by empowering individuals to express their encouragement and support to those in need.
Letters are written onto recycled-seeded paper and hung from sculptures in affected locations. Individuals from these communities take a letter, plant it in their garden and foster it to grow into an Australian native plant.
