If nature could see us, would she think we’re pretty?
I catch myself admiring mountains. I long to connect with the ground beneath me.
I’m beginning to question it all; are we further removed from nature than we think?
Suppose nature was a person and you ran toward them to get a little closer, would they even recognise you - or turn a shoulder, in fear of what we are capable of.
Perhaps nature's intuition is greater than our own.
Has all the concrete made us robotic?
Are our hearts as beautiful as the concrete we walk on?
Primarily living and working on Gadigal Land (Sydney), Seamus Byrne is a multi-disciplinary artist whose work explores themes of humanity, ecology, and environmentalism. His practice ranges from documentative photography, ceramic form; as well as performative and sculptural explorations.
Byrne's creations emit a distinctive vantage point, that mirrors his connection with both subject matter and the world around him. His artistic expression is often underscored by the use of satire and material subversion, providing a platform for incisive commentary.
