"A seating near temporary accommodation post-fire to bring people/community together to create a sense of belonging whilst assembling the furniture together to create a gathering point and reduce the impact of trauma.”
The whole project will be conducted in three parts–
1. Building relationships and understanding their trauma through yarning and deep listening methods.
2. Assembling the stool together.
3. A community workshop: Co-designing the forms and paintings on the stool along with the elders and artists of the village.
Originally from India, Shruti is a Sydney-based multidisciplinary designer with an illustrious design career, spanning 8 years of academic & professional experience. Her expertise combines interior & furniture design supported by a strong background in graphic design. She enjoys storytelling through her work that creates a physical and emotional level impact. Shruti is fond of designing ‘for’ people, culture and all the elements of the environment, from a hierarchical to a circular way of living. With a profound passion for storytelling through her designs along with aesthetics and functionality, Shruti is poised to make a strong mark on the world of art and design.
