Trinity Myers
The Glitch, 2023
Blender, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere Pro
Trinity Myers is a young Sydney-based graphic designer. Her work seeks to evoke change and encourage her audience to consider their consumption and disposal practices. Myers plays with the juxtaposition of colour and texture in ‘The Glitch’. Delicate pastel coral is stripped away by an ominous black ooze, symbolising the disastrous consequences of human practices. Bleached brittle coral fades to extinction, and nets surround coral reefs, suffocating the marine life.
As we watch coral reefs destroyed on the screen, we are reminded of its real occurrence in Australia – specifically the Great Barrier Reef – instilling us with great urgency. Trinity Myers utilises the digital medium of 3D motion graphics to explore ‘The Glitch,’ in which she simulates a technology glitch, flirting with her viewer’s reality, causing momentary confusion. However, this glitch fully grabs our attention as she reveals her final statement: “It’s not too late.”
