As an artist, my practice is an ever-evolving exploration of the human condition, delving deeply into themes of trauma, emotion, mental health, connection and play. My work spans across a diverse range of media, including painting, installation, video, performance, and sculpture. Through using various materials and new practices, it allows me to delve into personal connections whether it be something I need to process personally or sharing a story with the audience.
"Continually Showing Up" explores the ongoing interplay between my art practice and my mental health. The work acknowledges that nothing is ever truly "finished" or "fixed. It's a process of revisiting, re-engaging, and sometimes feeling like you're taking a step back but ultimately, it's about showing up, again and again in pushing and understanding yourself and your boundaries.
This piece is rooted in themes of trauma, human connection, and the healing journey through confronting my own mental struggles. It’s a reflection of my continuous process of self-understanding and growth. This process was a large part of a mental journey I partook this year in August- September being in hospital specifically focusing on healing my mental self. The materials used in this work have appeared in my previous pieces from 2021 to 2024, each one intertwined with personal experiences of my body, trauma, and mental setbacks.
"Continually Showing Up" is a space where I can return to these experiences, acknowledging that mental health is not linear but rather a series of phases that I move through, over and over.
