Christopher Michaels

My work mixes poetry and art using moving images and paintings. My moving image works include poetry readings, sound and music compositions, and video footage often appropriated or sampled from online research. My paintings may or may not include text. All my work seeks to express the complexity of life, history, psychology, philosophy and politics with spirituality as icing. For me, these subjects are all integrated. I tend to use layering of images to express that complexity, which creates abstracts that have figurative associations to reach people emotionally and suggest the stories and ideas in the poetry.
