In Australia, approximately five million library books are discarded annually. My work addresses this issue by repurposing these unwanted books into modular room dividers for libraries. These dividers, woven from book pages and naturally dyed cotton twine, offer flexible solutions for creating private study spaces or sectioning off large areas. The colours, textures and patterns can be easily customised to fit a library's needs and aesthetic, while also allowing for easy recycling at the end of their life. The handmade paper preserves a glimpse of the original text, making the panels almost readable. Through this project, unwanted library books have been transformed into something functional and interactive.
