Jade Gillis

My work captures and explores the fleeting visual delights of my everyday through the medium of drawing. Recently, I have been particularly interested in the interplay of light and shadow, and how this ephemera reveals and conceals the sentimental spaces I occupy. My delicate mark-making practice, which is tethered to a meditative process, calls for quiet contemplation and pause. In this sense, my work finds itself entangled in the art of noticing and drawing attention to the quiet beauty of the everyday. 'shadows and sunlight/ laid to rest' is a culmination of these ideas.
