My textile artworks reflect environmental challenges in Broken Hill, NSW, using slow stitching and embroidery to emphasise the need for reparation and care of country. By highlighting the losses caused by climate change and mining, I advocate for ongoing consultation and collaborative relationships with Aboriginal communities to address these issues. Guided by Ngiyampaa Elder Aunty Beryl Carmichael, I explore the urgency of environmental stewardship through yarning and deep listening, creating pieces that call for a deeper connection to and management of Country. This textile artwork series is dedicated to Ngiyampaa Elder Aunty Beryl Carmichael who passed away in May 2024.
