‘A Big Little Space’ addresses the pressing challenge of energy-intensive cooling methods in urban centres, where heavy reliance on air conditioning creates heat islands higher in temperature than surrounding areas. The experiential environment design showcases speculative eco-friendly alternatives to air conditioning for people living in rental accommodations. In creating an immersive surreal environment, where people become the size of ants, the installation playfully reframes the relationships between humans and nature. The interactive devices provide a hands-on experience of passive and low-energy cooling systems for domestic environments in urban centres, inspiring visitors to consider more sustainable practices in their daily lives.
