Single-use plastic pallet wrap is embedded within the transportation industry, accounting for 1.5% of global plastic waste. This enormous waste stream is overlooked and underreported despite the significant reliance on the material. 'Transparent Paths' reimagines the value of plastic pallet wrap through intricate woven textiles for interiors. Once used to transport fresh produce to Sydney supermarkets, I have twisted and stretched the plastic into a smooth, strong, luminous yarn through a technique reminiscent of wool spinning. This process embraces the plastic's inherent qualities, transforming it into a reusable material. Preserving plastic through weaving extends its value beyond single use and creates a pathway for transparent reporting of plastic waste.
