Lucy Parkinson

In my artistic practice I use oil paint and pastel to create stylised, self-referential figurative works that explore complex social situations in a playful and approachable way. My paintings often feature a female character engaged in different situations, inspired by moments I have found awkward, intense or difficult in my personal life. Through painting I attempt to regain control of these situations and apply humour to what might otherwise be embarrassing, confusing or downright traumatic memories.
