Maitê Feijó

As an artist with an interest in experimentation and exploration of the representations of identity, my practice questions the social order through the intersectionality of culture, sexuality, and gender, grounded in theories of queer abstraction. I contemplate feelings and imaginations through representations of the present or absent body in a feminist perspective of attainable change and growth, in a nurturing site that protects and encourages our self as we navigate life. By looking at the malleability and fluidity of identities, I seek to challenge the often-rigid, social categorizations that can exhaust and overcomplicate simple existence and the sense of authenticity.
