Maya Allen Design

I am an object and textile designer exploring the thematic overlap of nature and craft. My practice celebrates the small and poetic things in life by encapsulating them in both conceptual and functional works, from sculptural pieces to simple bowls. The range of objects I've made by hand all communicate an idea ‚ for example, the paradoxes of time, motherhood, emotional vulnerability, the value of handwork, protection of mangroves, and many more. Having explored a variety of materials, I now work primarily in ceramics, with experience in metalwork, textiles and installation design.
