Mei Lin Meyers

As a queer, genderqueer person of Chinese-Anglo heritage based on Wangal, Gadigal and Bidjigal Lands, my practice explores fuzzy-edged and non-linear kinship, asexual desires, cultural fluidity and worldmaking. I move across/between/in/with sculpture, installation, painting, and zine-writing. As a form of queer diasporic storytelling, I love attending to the unexpected webbing between things, e.g. sci-fi, ginger, Stop Making Sense and Chinese Belt Toggles. The common thread between my projects is the act of searching for relational practices - to heal from erased kinship and to disrupt the isolating impacts of colonial structures.
