Mia Hayward

I am an emerging queer artist, living and practicing on Gadigal Land. Working as a sculptural artist, I mainly use textiles and ceramic to inform my practice. Led through intuition and emotion, I draw inspiration from the experiences and relationships within my own life and the others around me. My work combines the various textures and qualities of each medium to form sculptural works that often explore the disjointed connection to the body. Thread and clay guide my practice to also delve in themes including trauma responses, feminine rage, the complex relationships we have with others and oneself and how art can be a form of healing.
