Mikaela Robinson

I am an emerging designer with a commitment to creating visually impactful designs. Dedicated to integrating sustainable practices into my design approach, drawing inspiration from nature and striving for innovative communications in my latest project. 'Eyes on the Reef' harnesses the power of wearable art to raise awareness about the escalating threat of marine heatwaves on the Great Barrier Reef. The 90x90cm scarf, crafted from sustainable Bemberg fabric, depicts the progressive stages of a heatwave and its impacts on the marine ecosystem through detailed print design and layered beading. From vibrant, healthy reefs to the stark reality of coral bleaching, the scarf visually narrates this journey. The kelp border symbolises unity and resilience, emphasising the importance of collective action. This wearable piece alongside the campaign encourages individuals to support reef conservation, integrating the message into their everyday fashion.
