Narrelle Odeh
My practice stems from my cultural identity, as I delve into the colonial experiences of the Palestinian people, and intertwine my own insights with themes of resistance, politics and tradition. Balancing subtlety and explicitness, I combine figurative and conceptual elements, drawing inspiration from the intricate tapestry of Palestinian heritage, history, and plights. I construct meaning through symbolism and imagery, selecting materials with relevant significance to build a narrative of layered interpretations. Throughout this, I aim to preserve my culture and, largely, Palestinian existence, while also exploring our evolution within the contemporary art world.
