My work combines the traditional Chinese dessert, Tanghulu, to explore more interesting forms of expression in lacquer art. In order to reach out to a new generation of viewers, I have chosen to use fun and bold colours to create images of food that break away from the seriousness and complexity of traditional lacquer aesthetics. I hope more people will understand the versatility and adaptability of this craft.
